Introducing New Pastors

In  November, the Committee on Ministry has welcomed two new pastors to the Presbytery (pending Presbytery action in March) and has approved the change in call for one Commissioned Ruling Elder (CRE) and one Teaching Elder (Minister).

West COM has approved

David Sherrod, Approved for Barbecue Church
  • the call of the Barbecue Churchto Rev. David Sherrod. David was recently the pastor at First Church, Dunn, and then took part in a chaplaincy training program and is currently serving as chaplain at Glenaire Retirement Community in Cary. David is already a member of our Presbytery.
West COM also approved a change in commission for
CRE Tom Brown to serve Bunnlevel Church
CRE Tom Brown to serve Bunnlevel Church
  • CRE Thomas Brown, member at the Lillington Church, has been serving as CRE at the Southview Church in Fayetteville will now move to serve the Bunnlevel Church in Harnett County.
East COM approved the Interim Pastor relationship between
Jake Young
Jake Young to Serve Topsail Church
  • Rev. Jake Young, a member of Foothills Presbytery, has been called by the session of the Topsail Church to serve as Interim pastor.  The COM has received him into this presbytery pending Presbytery action.  Jake served the North Anderson Community Church (Presbyterian) and is also a Coast Guard approved fishing boat captain.
East COM also received (pending Presbytery approval)

  • Rev. Robert Bayley from Seattle Presbytery. Robert and his wife have retired to the Wilmington area in order to be closer to their granddaughter.

We are delighted to welcome these servants of God in new areas of ministry among us.
